Post My Pyrenees Trip

I've been really busy with work all this year but had been planning a 'off road' trip to the Pyrenees since last year with my brother and his family. Everything came together back in August and we took our two Jeeps down through France and spent 10 days crossing the Pyrenees from Perpignan to the Atlantic coast in Biarritz, following a Spanish road book. We opted for a picture of camping and hotel stops to give a good blend of adventure and creative luxury! All in all it was a fantastic trip and I had planed a proper travel report for Expedition Portal where I have thread on preparation for the trip, but don't really have the time. But here are few random images to start with:

Post Re: My Pyrenees Trip

Sounds like an interesting trip. Some great views - wouldn't have got me on the walkway with the rope barrier - can't do heights without a good, solid, safety screen and then may be not!

Thanks Steve. The walkway was amazing, one chap had to carry his dog up it as it was too scared! I'll post up some more pics later.

Some fantastic stuff there. I really fancy a road trip, but my wife likes her luxuries on holiday.

Post Re: My Pyrenees Trip

Thanks Steve, funny you should mention the luxuries. It was my brothers idea for the trip prompted by him getting a new Renegade. It was inevitably going to be a bit of a 'lads trip', but his wife Cath was quite keen apart from the lack of 'facilities', so insisted that we had a some mandatory hotel stops and had a beach holiday at each end Laughing I actually enjoyed the planning and Jeep preparation almost as much as the trip. In terms of photography, I would class most of it as 'glorified holiday snaps', and mostly just enjoyed the trip and the break from work.

Walkways were a bit of a recurring activity, here's another one near Alquesar.

Post Re: My Pyrenees Trip

Some of the last batch I'd be able to follow you as it's a solid structure and the drop not toooo great. Any hint of movement or more than about 30ft drop, you're on your own! Boss likes hot water on tap, so any time away under canvas is a distant memory of over 32 years old. Camper van's are OK though - I've taken one down some varying quality gravel roads in NZ and Aus on our trips, so might have be able to do it with that type of vehicle. Beach break to finish would also be mandatory.....

Pentax SR is a wonderful thing Sas Laughing

For a bit of background, here’s the actual waypointed route we followed based on a Spanish rally-stye tulip road book:

Goodness that certainly was a road trip, I love the way you've documented it.
