Post Old fairground truck

This is starting to decay at the fairground Barry Island. Hopefully it'll stay for years and I can keep revisiting to document it.

Surviving example of a 'Matador' - used by the British Army as an artillery tower for medium artillery and 17pdr ATG in WW2 with great success, as well as being used as the chassis for a number of specialised uses. I think it was the first 4 x 4 truck produced in and by the UK. Post war a lot went into civilian service in a variety of rolls. Nice to see at least one seeing its 75th birthday

Post Re: Old fairground truck

Wow, that's some history. This one is registered between 1970 & 1971, I know back then you could register a car as newer than the actual build year until that particular crooked avenue was stopped.
But you reckon this truck dates from the war?
If so I hope they look after it as it's being a bit neglected at the moment.

Post Re: Old fairground truck

Military history is one of my other interests, which includes wargaming (or as some would say, playing with toy soldiers Sad ), so I've got a few of these in my British WWII collections.
