Pringles tube

Using a pringles tube as a flash diffuser.

Hole cut in pringles tube which slides over the on board flash.

I cut a hole in the lid, which enables me to change the amount of light allowed - sometimes I need more light and don't need anything over the hole and the tube just points the light in the right direction. sometimes I need less light and will use different thickness of paper over the top.

Ready to fit.

Not very elegant looking but it does the job.

One of these days I will get round to making one of these.

Of course you will still need to alter the flash settings and possibly the exposure settings on your camera to avoid the inevitable 'flash back' and the black backgrounds that you sometimes don't want. 'tis just a matter of trial and error, eventually it should come as second nature just like knowing which f-stop to use.
