Jumping Spiders

Members' Blogs: Jumping Spiders

Ha ha - no-one can tell me what I can and can't post here. (except LB ofcourse).

Insects are ugly but beautiful in a weird sort of way. I don't know why people think Jumping Spiders are cute - they're still spiders. Shocked
I've wanted to get some half decent shots of these since I saw the famous Thomas' photos of them, although I know I'll never get any where near the quality of his shots, at least I can see that these are actually Jumping Spiders.

The ones I find are teeny tiny little things not much bigger than a small ant. I'm sure there must be larger ones some where, but maybe I'm in the wrong country for those.

I'm only posting these here so I have a bench mark to work from in the future.

Not only are they extremely small but you have to watch them for ages before they stop still for half a second so that you can take a shot. An hour or two on your hands and knees in mud, following a tiny insect through the viewfinder gives you wet knees and a crick in the neck. I need to get a life.

I'll post a few more blogs with some piccies of other insects I've taken over the last few days as a bench mark for those - then I must photograph something else for a while. If I photograph another fly I think I'll go barking mad (what do you mean you thought I was already Razz ).
